Maya Tsoclis was born in Paris. Following her father continously
moving abroad for business, she spent her childhood in France,
Germany and finally Greece, where she settled permanently.
She has been a member of the national swimming team gaining many
honors, graduated from the French School of Athens and then
returned to her native town where she studied sociology.
Next she worked in the fashion industry together with John
Tseklenis, establishing her own fashion studio.
In 1997 she started a collaboration with the cultural program of
the ET2 channel "Plus and Minus" and then took over, together with
the director Chronis Pechlivanidis, the creation of the show
"Travelling in Greece" on NET, which, over the years, developed
into the documentary series "Travelling with Maya Tsoclis". Today
this outdoor show is completing 14 years of continuous broadcasting
on national television, has shot in over 50 countries around the
world has been awarded repeatedly in Greece and is regarded as the
most authoritative in the fields of travelling.
Maya Tsoclis' name is synonymous with travel journalism. She has
been chief editor of the travel magazine "Passport", published by
the group of "Kathimerini" newspaper, and cooperated with "Skai"
radio for two years as well.
In October 2009 she was elected member of the Parliament with
PASOK political party and remained one until the beginning of
2012.
In November 2010 she was acclaimed Ambassador of the Professional
Greek Wine by the National Union of Vine and Wine (EDOAO).
