Maya Tsoclis' name is closely associated with travel journalism in Greece.
She was born in Paris. Due to her father's work abroad, she spent her childhood moving between France, Germany, and Greece, where she eventually settled permanently-an experience that sparked her lifelong love of travel.
Maya studied sociology in France and later worked in the fashion industry alongside designer Yannis Tseklenis, before establishing her own fashion studio.
In 1997, she began collaborating with the cultural program Plus and Minus on public television (ET2) . Shortly thereafter, together with director Chronis Pechlivanidis, she co-created the television programTravelling in Greece on NET, which later evolved into the long-running documentary series Travelling with Maya Tsoclis. Filmed in more than 70 countries, the series received multiple awards in Greece and became a landmark production in Greek travel documentary television.
She served as editor-in-chief of the travel magazine Passport, published by the Kathimerini media group, and also collaborated with SKAI Radio.
In October 2009, she was elected Member of the Hellenic Parliament with PASOK, serving until early 2012.
In 2016 under the direction of Chronis Pechlivanidis and produced by ONOS Productions, Maya Tsoclis created the documentary interview series A Day With…, focusing on in-depth conversations with influential personalities across Greece, offering a human-centered portrait of contemporary Greek society. In 2023, collaborating again with Chronis, she wrote and presented The Routes of the Greek Diaspora for ERT, which explored the history of Greek communities in the United States through encounters with members of the Greek diaspora.
