Erythrea

Overview

Maya visits the small Erythrea, a former Italian colony that then passed to the hands of the British before the United Nations decided in 1952 that is should be attached to Ethiopia. Therefore an armed conflict rises during the 60's between the two countries that will last for more than 30 years causing the loss of thousands of lives.

Maya will after be scrolling around the capital of Asmara, the most innovative country of Africa, founded and organized by the Italians, a true architectural wonder! Maya will meet the president of the local greek community as well as our honorary consul in Erythrea, swim in the Red Sea near the port of Massaoua and participate in the anniversary of the liberation of the country.
