Ikaria, Greece
Overview
Ikaria is not just an island of exile but also one of
hospitality… It's inhabitants are divided to those who live "this
way" and the others who live "that way", creating a whole new
concept of time passing… It is that part of Greece where
festivities vibrate and excite the young and the old as well.
Every summer the locals become one and dance to a primitive
Ikarian rhythm. The festival in Akamatra is equally famous to the
big one of Langada including wedding feasts with the music of
Lefteris Poulis or "Skatzakas", as he is called, and Nikos Fakaros,
inviting you to join this special local atmosphere you definitely
have never encountered before.
