South Africa
Overview
Maya Tsoclis travels to South Africa, the biggest economy in Africa. Despite its amazing natural beauties, the unequal distribution of wealth is obvious everywhere. Maya will visit "safe villages", a kind of a small walled paradise where the most privileged live, as well as the shanty towns of Pretoria, which should be rehabilitated in view of the World Cup that will take place in South Africa. In trying to understand the complex reality of South Africa, Maya will discuss with journalist Giorgos Mazarakis about the apartheid period, Nelson Mandela and the modern effort to bridge the gaps of inequality created in the past and the new issues that arise from it.
